๐ Celebrating Latina Day: Embracing My Journey and Empowering the Next Generation ๐Today, on Latina Day, I reflect on my journey as a rising Latina leader in corporate Americaโa journey filled with challenges, growth, and an unwavering commitment to breaking barriers. As a proud Latina, Iโve learned the importance of staying true to my roots while navigating spaces that havenโt always seen or understood my perspective. My heritage has been my strength, fueling my resilience, my passion for excellence, and my desire to uplift others who walk a similar path.To all my fellow Latinas in the corporate world: we are here to redefine what leadership looks like. We bring a richness of culture, a depth of experience, and a fierce determination to succeedโnot just for ourselves, but for our communities.Today, letโs celebrate the power of our collective voice and the impact we are making. Letโs continue to support one another, mentor the next generation of Latina leaders, and champion diversity in every boardroom and office.Hereโs to honoring our past, embracing our present, and creating a future where Latina leadership is not the exception, but the norm.Tagging some of the wonderful Latinas who inspire me on a daily basis: Priscilla Dominguez, Maria Gonzalez, Mayte Espinal (She/Her/Ella), Mayra Romero, Stephanie Bravo Lopez#LatinaDay #LatinaLeadership #DiversityAndInclusion #ProudLatina #Empowerment

As a LatinX in Tech, we only make up 8% of the industry but somehow represent 11% of tech layoffs. We need to celebrate us and to keep making a space for us in this industry. Being proud of being a LatinX is a resistance act.

I mention #Latinas all of the time. Why? Latinas make most of the buying decisions for the 5th largest economy in the world worth 2 two trillion dollars. Latinas open businesses on a rate of 6 to 1 for their white counterparts. Latinas are 15 years younger than the average American.According to Nielsen, women lead America in defining fashion, food, beauty trends and community. Why would you look past Latinas? It's a business IMPERATIVE to include them in your plans, especially if you want your brand to have a future. #HispanicMarketing #Latinidad #Mujeres #Empresarias

A little late, but celebrating a belated International Women's Day with all of our current and past rockstar women at Onova!Jyoti S. Lagan Bansal Stella He Rachel Chen Riya Kumar Ying G.A little history of the % female breakdown at Onova over the years:2019: 50% (Helen), team size: 22020: 60% (Helen, Rachel T., Freya), team size: 52021: 62.5% (Sabrina, Helen, Lindsay, Bonnie, Rubaina), team size: 82022: 44.4% (Sherry, Kelly, Ruiying, Helen), team size: 92023: 33.3% (Ying, Rachel C., Sara), team size: 102024: 46% (Jyoti, Lagan, Stella, Rachel C., Riya, Ying), team size: 13Over the last 5 years, we've averaged 49.37% female representation at Onova. I'm REALLY proud of this fact, especially given that we have never intentionally aimed for this. We are very fortunate to have attracted so many talented women early on in their careers.Of course, gender isn't the only dimension of diversity that we pay attention to. While there's still room for us to grow in other dimensions, it's important to celebrate the wins along the way! We pay attention to these diversity metrics to ensure we bring diverse perspectives in everything we do.

To Every Latinx with Big Dreams...โจToday, I participated in an incredible panel about Latina empowerment. It filled me with a sense of belonging and a fire to tell all of you: YOU BELONG WHEREVER YOUR DREAMS TAKE YOU.As part of the International Women's Day initiatives, Latinas@ EMEA in partnership with HOLA ERG, collaborated with WE CREATE SPACE to bring a live panel discussion exploring the diverse cultures and experiences that Latina/x/e women and gender-fluid people bring to every corner of the globe.Big Kudos to the amazing speakers, organizers and folks who joined the event from every corner of EMEA.Key Take-Aways from the session:โ Be yourself and proud of who you are.โ Understand how your own intersections might shape your experiencesโ Regularly engage in conversation of intersectionality, privilege and oppression. โ Engage in active allyship to those who are not always heard or represented. Create spaces for them to be seen and celebrated. And now? Let's turn these takeaways into action. How can you be an active ally in your workplace? Share it with me in the comments!#InternationalWomensDay #LatinasInTech #WeCreateSpace #intersectionality #belonging

Happy International Women's Day - from our Peaple team <3 #inspireinclusion is the 2024 theme, and for our Peaple team connection and strategy session today, we decided to symbolise this as Peas in Pods. Everyone belongs, we're all peas in this pod together. Personally, this day is important to me for two key reasons:1. I like to be reminded to share my appreciation and gratitude to women who inspire me, and who have created opportunities that historically did not exist for women. And men / others too - for showing up in a way that acknowledges that the context I'm in is not always set up for me to be my best and take action to change that for me and other women.2. It's a reminder that our experiences aren't the same simply because of who we are. It challenges me to continuously check myself on this. When I have an influence on someone's experience in the workplace, how can I best set them up for success, to bring their full magic, without unnecessary barriers. Then we all win.

My initial reaction after reading the "State of Latinas in Corporate Americaโ report was to keep quiet about being the only Latina inmy University of Chicago master's programand in every job I've held. Now, my daughter is the only Latina in the gifted program at her school. However, I can't stay silent when the self-promotion gap is real for women, especially minority women. It's not a complaint; it's a fact. Without acknowledging these facts, we can't achieve real change. The report has excellent recommendations.โOnly 1 percent of C-suite executives are Latina. If this trend continues, Latinas will not be able to catch up to other groups of womenโlet alone menโin leadership roles and will remain the most underrepresented group at the highest levels of corporate America.โโ(โฆ) cultural normsโparticularly those around gratitude and โkeeping oneโs head downโ at workโcan make it harder for Latinas to engage in workplace behaviors important to getting ahead, including promoting their accomplishments and vocalizing their desires to advance. To get ahead at work, one Latina explained, โyou have to brag about yourself. You have to sell yourself. You have to put yourself out there.โ Yet these actions often feel inauthentic to many Latinas.โกUnderstanding these cultural normsโand not mistaking them for a lack of ambition or driveโis important for companies committed to retaining and advancing Latinas.โ https://lnkd.in/gQSjkpZx

Multiple broken rungs face Latinas in the U.S. corporate workplace. New research from Lean In sheds important light on the extreme low rate of Latinas in the C-suite, which stands at 1%. For starters, Latinas are the least represented group at the corporate entry level. They then face the steepest drop in representation from entry level to the C-suite. White menโs representation increases 64% from entry to C-suite level. Latinas face a decrease in representation of 78%. The Lean In data finds that Latinas and Black women face the highest hurdles from entry level to management, and that Latinas and Asian women face the steepest barriers from director to VP level.Gender diversity in leadership leads to clear financial and operation benefits for corporations and their investors. True gender diversity encompasses racial, ethnic, ability, and all measures of diversity. We will not tire of saying it. More women โ and more diverse women โ are needed in the top rungs of workplaces in the U.S. See our latest analysis of equality-focused investing at bit.ly/GLIQ.#Latina #WomenInLeadership #GenderDiversity #WomenAtWork #DiversityEquityAndInclusion
