About the Position:

The Office of Admissions is responsible for determining studenteligibility for admission to the University, processes andevaluates applications and transcripts, determining residencystatus, and reviewing appeals for exception to University Policy.This is an exciting opportunity for technically savvy, helpful,resourceful individuals looking to take the next step to furthertheir career in a dynamic field that is essential to the success ofthe University. We seek an exceptional individual to join our teamas the Special Programs and Systems Coordinator (Student ServicesProfessional III). The ideal candidate in this role should have apositive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized byhighly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness,flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general direction and reporting directly to the SeniorAssociate Director of Admissions, the Special Programs and SystemsCoordinator serves to assist the university's development,recruitment, and enrollment of a qualified student body bycoordinating and implementing special programs in the CSUF Officeof Admissions and leading the work of other Student ServicesProfessionals (I and II) as it pertains to the Systems unit withinthe Office of Admissions. Work assignments require a high degree ofsound decision making and judgment to coordinate students in thespecial programs being able to successfully navigate the admissionsprocess. Evaluation of records for admission eligibility and credittoward undergraduate and graduate degrees; interpret and applyprovisions of Title V of the California Education Code andUniversity policies relating to admission; analyzes the academicrecords; determine eligibility for admission to the specializedprogram; and monitors the flow of applicant files throughout theadmission process. This includes, but is not limited to, theTransfer Success Pathways/Transfer Planner Program, Disney Aspire,Bring Back Titans initiative and any new programs established via,but not limited to, a CSUF MOU, Chancellor's Office, or legislaturechanges. The Special Programs and Systems Coordinator will reviewprogram enrollment and continuously verify student eligibility forprogram, follow-up when discrepancies arise, create and updatecommunications and maintain interaction with enrollees. Theposition plays a key role in communicating with students, theirfamilies, counselors, and other supporters to provide timelyinformation to eradicate confusion and assist in navigating theadmission process. Interacts with various members of the Universitycommunity including administrators, faculty, and staff. Facilitatespresentations and workshops about the admission process or specialprogram requirements. The Special Programs and Systems Coordinatormay be required to work extended hours in peak times and/orweekends for special events as programming needs dictate. Otherduties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-yearcollege or university in a related field including or supplementedby upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques,interviewing, and conflict resolution plus three years ofprofessional student services work in the field. A Master’s degreefrom an accredited college or university in Counseling, ClinicalPsychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substitutedfor one year of professional experience. A Doctoral degree from anaccredited college or university and the appropriate internship orclinical training in a relevant field may be substituted for threeyears of the required professional experience.

Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organizeprograms and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse studentpopulation, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyzecomplex situations accurately and adopt effective courses ofaction. Ability to advise students individually and in groups oncomplex student-related matters. Ability to complete assignmentswithout detailed instructions. Ability to establish and maintaincooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals.Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, aswell as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures,activities, and the overall organization.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must becompleted satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU willmake a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded ifthe background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or itis discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsifiedinformation. Failure to complete the background checksatisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSUemployee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Admissions or Registrar’s Office at a publicuniversity. Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.Knowledge of CSU admission requirements, policies and procedurespreferred. Three or more years of experience working inUndergraduate Admissions, Outreach or College Advising. Strongknowledge of and experience with using PeopleSoft StudentAdministration system, Cal State Apply and OnBase.

This position’s current work location is on campus. Must be willingto work flexible hours on occasion in order to participate inevening and weekend meetings and programs.
